Fifty Shades of Dorian Gray

Obviously the idea for this book came from the title of Wilde`s novel, but as literary mash-ups go, James and Wilde are a pretty happy coincidence. Wilde`s wry writing (which Spector borrows frequently from--classic Wildean dialogue is peppered throughout the book) is ripe for sullying. Unlike Henry James, for example, Wilde has an undertone of secret desire that Spector expertly exploits. It`s dirty and funny, a little silly (just like the book it`s spoofing)--a fun, sexy, satisfying read. By Peter M Goodwin
